Re-loading OSMC or LibreELEC on your microSD Card

The operating system on your microSD card can sometimes be corrupted if the Raspberry Pi is not powered down correctly. See the instruction links below for re-loading LibreELEC or OSMC onto your microSD card from another computer with a card reader.

OSMC

Visit their download page. You'll have the option to choose from their device installer (available for Windows, OS X and Linux) or image the disk yourself from their available images (make sure to select the correct version for your Pi model!):

LibreELEC

LibreELEC is available here. They offer an SD creator program for easy installation, or you can choose your preferred image for direct download (again, make sure to grab the right one for your Pi model!):

For reference, the best way to power down the Raspberry Pi on Kodi-based operating systems is;

  1. On the main screen, click the Power button in the lower left corner
  2. Select 'Power Off System'
  3. Wait about 10 seconds or until the green activity LED on the Pi board stops flashing
  4. Unplug or switch off the power supply to the Pi board
